Press Conference on China Antidumping against EU Fastener

Beijing, 1st, Dec, 2008,(chinafastener.com)—Press Conference on China Antidumping against EU Fastener was held in Asia Hotel ,Beijing at 3:30 p.m. on November 30. This conference was organized by China General Machine Components Industry Association and hosted by Ms.Xiang from All Bright Law Offices, Beijing branch. 

  
 Mr. Feng Jinyao, president of fastener association of China General Machine Components Industry Association, introduced the general information of this antidumping case and development processing of Chinese fastener industry during the conference. Mr. Fu, Donghui, lawyer from All Bright Law Offices also introduced features of this antidumping case. 

  
It is the first time for China to propose anti-dumping against EU fasteners. 47 private enterprises gather together to propose antidumping, which was never seen before in China antidumping cases. Antidumping cases always proposed by large-scale state enterprises in the past. This antidumping case becomes the focus of media.

At the same time, this antidumping case takes place in a sensitive period when EU is going to levy high antidumping duties on Chinese carbon steel fasteners. Mr. Wang, reporter from Business Times raised a question: “Is there any link between EU antidumping against China fastener and China antidumping against EU fastener?” Mr. Fu expressed the interrelated factors must exist. “However, they are total difference issue according to the laws. From facing EU antidumping to raising antidumping, from responding to suits to bringing suits, from passive position to positive position , it shows that Chinese private enterprises are making a great progress. There comes the theme of this conference: apply for WTO rules and strive to survive.” Mr. Fu added.

It is the special feature of this case to raise antidumping mutually against same product between two countries. It was never seen before in China industry. It reflects China economic diversification, expanding market and economic globalization. Miss Lucy from Reuters asked:“ Is China able to product this kind of fastener products if China put forward anti-dumping against EU fastener”?Fastener imports from EU to China reach 180 million USD per year, most of which are auto fastener, engineering fasteners and electronic fasteners. Actually, China can manufacture most of these fastener products. However, we found EU enterprises are selling at a much cheaper price in Chinese market than that in European market, even with a rapidly increasing quantity. It must cause direct damages to those Chinese enterprises who are transferring from middle-grade producer to a high-grade producer. 

On behalf of Local fastener association, Mr Fan, chairman form Ningbo Fastener Industrial Association made his comments on this issue. He expressed:” EU are abusing WTO rules .120 Chinese enterprises responded actively to EU antidumping, but no one can get the market economy status, while 2 foreign-own enterprises in China achieve zero tariff. It is unfair."

Mr. Ni, vice manager from Zhejiang Zhapu Industrial Co. Ltd., made a speech on behalf of enterprises. And Mr. Du, secretary-general of China General Machine Components Industry Association, showed his appreciation to all supporting fastener enterprises on behalf of CGMCIA.He also expected a soon reply from Ministry of Commerce of People’s Republic of China. Mr. Fu expressed:” we will do our utmost to make it through legislation before Christmas.
