2013 Five Region Fastener Association Conference was successfully held on 19 June in Shanghai, China as the concurrent activity of 2013 Fastener Expo Shanghai. Mr. Lin Zhi Ming, Chairman of Hong Kong Screw & Fastener Council, introduced the general situation of Hong Kong’s Fastener Industry in 2012.
Hong Kong’s fastener export went down in 2012. The export volumes dropped slightly by 6.56% to 28,720 metric tons while the export value up 3.26% to US $ 386,043,000 in compared with 2011. The fall of export volume and the rising of export value reflected the great increase of cost price, plus with the appreciation of RMB, making the export price went up straightly. Mainland China still was the largest export destination; the export volume and value to mainland China respectively took up 53% and 68% of the totals.
Hong Kong’s fastener import maintained steady in 2012. The import volume up 4.62% to 47,584 metric tons while the import value drop by less than 1% to US $ 324,338,600. Mainland China was the major supplier, taking up 77% of the totals, followed by Taiwan and Japan, taking up 10% and 4% respectively.
