The 20th National Industrial Fastener Show / East is returning to Columbus on 20-21May, 2008. According to 104th Canton fair requirement questionnaire, the future Canton fairs intend to be held 3 phases and some adjustment will come out correspondingly.   “2 phases” Canton fair has lasted for seven years, 6 days for one phase and 4-day break between the two phases. The 104th Canton fair may be held 3 phases, 5 days for one phase and 4-day break between tow phases. Some enterprises express their disagreement on this proposal as it will last for too long in each Canton fair and will bring some inconvenience.   According some information, the sections for the 104th Canton fair suppose to increase from 34 to 48 sections. All provinces and regions request to summit the accurate demand for the booths. It is know that, exhibitors in 104th Canton fair should pay deposit money for booking a booth in advance without refund if the enterprises change their mind.   The reporter also leans that the 3rd phase of Pazhou Complex project will be put into use in 104th Canton fair. That means the Liufa Complex which has been used for Canton fair early since Spring Canton fair in 1974 may be stopped for Canton fair next year.   As all the changes for Canton fair mention above has not got the approval from department of commerce, there will be some variables.

The 103rd China Import and Export Fair, the largest yet, recorded 25.43 billion U.S. dollars worth of export deals during its first session, which ended on Sunday. That was a rise of 1.8 percent from the previous session of the fair in October, said Xu Bin, spokesman of the fair. Long called the Canton fair, it was a biannual export-promotion event until the 101st session, when its name officially was changed to the China Import and Export Fair from the Chinese Export Commodities Fair. The fair, held in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, has two phases this year. The first was from April 15 to 20, while the second will run from April 25 to 30. The first phase featured textiles, garments, health products, household appliances, tools, small vehicles and hardware. Food, tea, kitchenware, decorations, toys, sporting goods, and office supplies will be on show in the second phase. Business deals featuring mechanical and electrical products were the most active, totaling 16 billion U.S. dollars and accounting for 62.9 percent of all contracts. Private companies continued to play a leading role in securing business deals, followed by state-owned enterprises and overseas-financed ventures. Attendance at the first session was up 4.1 percent from the previous fair, with 128,155 overseas procurement business people, but down 5.8 percent from the 101st. Judging by deals done, Europe, the Middle East and the United States remained the top three buyers at the fair, which is considered a "weather vane" for conditions in China's foreign trade.

On March 16th, 2008, Chinafastener.com joins fastener visiting group and begins the trip from Shanghai to Moscow for Fastec-2008. It seems Russia is quite near China, but it still takes 10-hour flight. Russian Time is 5 hours later than Chinese time.   Viewing from the plane, there is a unique landscape in Moscow. Russia’s season is quite different from that in Southern Area. As it is a warm winter for most European countries, you can not find heavy snow in Moscow. Warm Winter   Upon arriving in Moscow’s airfield, the first impression is that it takes a long time to pass the immigration desk and it is said that, in generally, 50 to 100 USD will be blackmailed by the police at the immigration. The guide says Blackmail is very common in Moscow and we had better not go out alone. When at Rome, do as the Rome do. We should try to be patient and keep waiting anytime in Moscow, as the pace of life in Russia is a very slow.  However, Moscow is currently the city of the world's highest consumption.   We stay in Moscow COMOS HOTEL (Cosmos Hotel), a four-star hotel of entertainment, recreation, accommodation.   The second day is preparing the booths. The exhibition hall is not very big as this is a professional fastener show. There are about 150 enterprises (including 50 from Mainland China, 30 from Taiwan) exhibited in this show. Chinese enterprises cover more than half of the whole, which hits a record and it is a good beginning.   On March, 18, it is the fist day of the show. However, there are few visitors in the exhibition hall, as the morning of the fist day is still for preparation in Russia. As a result, the enterprises take the opportunity to communicate together and discuss the market status of Russia.   The atmosphere becomes much better on March 19. Most of visitors are fastener buyers.
