Reported by the ISSF( International Stainless Steel Forum), the production of stainless steel had reached 381 billion tons in the world ,with 7.8% increase compared with 2012. The growth can be seen in most regions except for Western Europe and Africa.
In 2013, Asia (except China) had a SS production of 88 billion tons, up 0.8% compared with 2012.India experienced an increase of 5.4% while China Taiwan suffered a 3.7% drop. Japan and South Korea are basically flat with the year of 2012.
Chinese SS market share are still growing up, accounting for nearly 50% of the total SS production worldwide. China SS production volume comes to 190 billion ton in 2013, with an increase of 18% year on year.
The production of Western Europe and Africa had dropped 4.3%. The index also reflects that the growth rate of France and Belgium are 5.1% and 4.6%, whereas Great Britain and Germany are posted double-digit decline.
America and central and eastern Europe’s production has rapidly increased. America reached 25 billion ton, 3.6% up compared to the year of 2012, while central and Eastern Europe rose by 13.6%.
As for specific items among the market share of stainless steel, Series 200(CrMn) dropped to 21% while 300(CrNi) to 53.7%. On the contrary, Series 400(Cr) has achieved an increase, accounting for 25.3%.
