Japan’s imports of steel products drop for first time in Nov

According to data released by Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF), Japan’s imports of steel products dropped to 350,000 tons in November, down by 22.1 from the previous month.

Meanwhile, the imports of common steel from South Korea totaled 221,000 tons, dropping by 29.2% year on year. Taiwan exported around 82,000 tons of steel products to Japan, declining by 19.5% year on year. Japan’s steel imports from China soared by 49.3% to 42,000 tons.

The country’s steel imports have decreased for the first time over past 13 months.
