New Insulation Method Saves Train From Electric Leakage

In the process of installing the electricity supply equipments in Line 4 Rail Train in Suzhou City, there was a difficulty putting in front of every technician—the insulation resistance didn’t reach the technical requirement after successfully installing the switch cabinet. Switch cabinet is crucial as it is the power source to transmit electricity to rail train. Electric leakage would threaten the safety of every passenger when the insulation problem couldn’t be solved. Without being able to solve this problem by the construction side, the Senior Electric Technician from Beijing, Mr. Dou Tiecheng was asked to help.

As a specialist in the line, Mr. Dou soon discovered that the problem was caused by one little bolt which was used to fix the cabinet on the ground. There is a tiny gap between this bolt and the insulating bush, which might allow the entry of moisture and scraps and thus leading to the ineffectiveness of insulation resistance.

Mr. Dou innovatively proposed a new insulation method, that is to add Silicon Grease into the gap between bolt and insulation bush. This method was immediately applied and then its availability was approved. It was said by Directors from the construction side that this new insulation method would be applied to all the insulation-relative construction in Line 4 Rail Train.
