The transaction prices of wire rod have fallen by NT$3,000~NT$4,000/ton and the sales volumes have also dropped by 30%~40% in the Taiwanese domestic market over the past three months due to weak demand.

In fact, the Taiwanese wire rod market was good early this year as the downstream screw industry had better performance in overseas market.

However, the Taiwanese wire rod market has become weak since this May as the screw makers have received fewer and fewer orders.

For the prospect, market participants said that the Taiwanese wire rod market might remain weak in the near short term due to sluggish demand.
