Brazil’s stainless steel consumption up in 2013

According to the data from Brazilian stainless steel association, Abinox, Brazil’s apparent stainless steel consumption rose by 8.7% in 2013 to 398,000 tons from a year eailer.
Also, the consumption of flat products was 350,000 tons, rising by 6% from 2012. Consumption of long products rose by 33% to 48,000 tons.
Consumption per capita also reached the highest to 1.98 kg, compared to the previous record in 2008 of 1.94 kg. The consumption per capita was 1.89 kg in 2012.
Meanwhile, the country’s stainless steel production was 354,600 tons.
