Most fastener electroplating and washing plants in Taipei are shut down. As we know, electroplating and washing are the must-needed process in fastener manufacturing. This case affects the whole industry chain, leading to 25% decrease in fastener manufacturing capacity ,the value comes to RMB30 billion , while the cost for environmental protection increases, says 100 USD for per ton of fastener.
And as was told by several principals of the electroplating plants, one more foreseeable wastage is that most orders will be obliged to express by air to avoid shipment delay punishment which would likely to decuple the freight cost.
Taiwan’s steelmaker China Steel Cor. (CSC), Jinn Her and Taiwan Industrial Fastener Institution have preliminarily outlined 4 solutions: the establishment of new effluents of sewage treatment plants, cross-regional coordination; the distribution of the current available facilities and the increase of legal production line.
The case really posed a threat to Taiwan's fastener industry and will surely accelerate the improvement of the sewage treatment and environmental standards.
