Antidumping on wire rods in EU expired in August. Theoretically Wire rod can be imported in EU without any anti dumping duty. There is wide expectation that the EUROFER will extend it further but no decision has been taken yet.

Now a days Chinese Mills could offer Sae 1008 or even Sae 1006 wire rod in diameter 5.5 mm at a price around USD 500 per tonne CFR FO (About EURO 390 per tonne).
 
This price, taking in account an average cost of about EUR 25 per tonne for discharging and inland transport would be EUR 35 to EUR 50 per tonne lower than present EU domestic prices
 
It seem an enticing proposition for Chinese mills to invade EU market but the certainty of possible extension of anti-dumping period by another 5 years is keeping them at bay .
