Reportedly, on April 19, Brazil's foreign-trade authority announced its decision to start an antidumping (AD) probe into the flat-rolled silicon steels from China, South Korea and Chinese Taiwan under Mercosur HS Codes 72251900 and 72261900.

Since China is not regarded as a market economy, Chinese Taiwan will be chosen as the substitute to calculate the normal value of China-made products.

Among the numerous manufacturers and exporters, the Brazilian authority will select those having bigger export volume as its respondents who are required to fill in questionnaires and give replies within 40 days from the questionnaire sending dates.
