Due to the unstable economic recovery of Europe and America, the decreased demand, and aggravated dept crisis in EU, Hong Kong’s fastener export went down in 2011. The export volumes dropped by 6% to 30,735 metric tons while the export value up 1% to 373,845,900 dollars in compared with 2010. Hong Kong exported the most fasteners to China; the export volume and value to China respectively took up 65% and 68% of the totals.
In 2011, the fasteners imported by Hong Kong reached 45,482 metric tons, up 3% in compared with 2010, but sharply down 25% in compared with 2009. The import value of fasteners reached 324,603,000 dollars, down 2% while compared with 2010, which showed the decreased of unit price. Hong Kong imported the most fasteners from China, which took up 76% of the totals, followed by Taiwan and Japan, taking up 9% and 5% respectively.
