The National Development and Reform Commission approved a number of rail transit construction plans proposed by many cities across the country. The total investment was forecasted to exceed 800 billion Yuan. Among of that, Guangzhou’s rail transit construction plan topped the level of highest investment, whose total investment was estimated to reach 124.1 billion Yuan. The approval covered 19 cities across China, two regions and a line. Six rail transit construction plans of Taiyuan, Lanzhou, Guangzhou, Shenyang, Xiamen, and Changzhou was approved recently, the adjustment programs of recent construction plan of Harbin and Shanghai was approved, and the regional rail transit construction plans like the intercity rail network of Jiangsu Province along the Yangtze River and Inner Mongolia were approved. The recent construction of the Guangzhou urban rail transit planning included 7 lines and set 92 station, whose total length was about 228.9 km.

Railway fasteners were widely used in the construction of urban rails. The urban rail transit projects approved by the National Development and Reform Commission was expected to further push up the investment in the construction of the railroad and rail transit. However, not all specifications and model of railway fasteners were suitable for railway construction. The strength of ordinary railway fasteners could not adapt to the vibration of the high-speed rail. The rail transits like railways and metro required high-strength railway fasteners. With the increasing construction of railways, the demand for high-strength railway fasteners in China would also be strengthened.

It was learned that the open tender of the total mileage of high-speed railway from 2009 to 2010 was about 8,000 to 9,000 km, which demanded for high-speed rail fasteners in a value of about 8 to 10 billion Yuan. The related equipment and infrastructure enterprises would be also beneficial from this time’s rail transit construction plans.
