China’s stainless steel output rises in 2013

According to data released by the Stainless Steel Council of China Special Steel Enterprises Association (SSC), China’s stainless steel output totaled 18.72 million tons in 2013, rising by 16.3% from a year ago.
Among them, the output of 300 grade stainless steel totaled 9.77 million tons, jumping by 23.3% year on year.
In 2013, the country’s exports of stainless steel amounted to 2.65 million tons, rising by 28.5% from 2012. The import rose slightly by 0.6% to 775,000 tons.
Meanwhile, China’s apparent consumption of stainless steel rose by 13.4% year on year to 14.59 million tons in 2013.
