Indian crude steel output up in Jan-Sep

According to the World Steel Association (WSA), Indian crude steel production totaled 62.41 million tons during January to September, up by 1.8% compared to 61.27 million tons in the same period a year ago.

India has remained the fourth biggest steel maker in the world over past four years.

Global crude steel production reached 134 million tons in September, down by 1.0% year on year, according to the World Steel Association (worldsteel).

In the month, China’s crude steel output totaled 68 million tons, holding steady; Japan’s was at 9.2 million tons, down by 0.5%; South Korea’s was at 5.7 million tons, up by 10.1%; all compared to the same time of last year.
