Chongqing: 3D Printing Makes Largest Mono-parts

On July 24, relative higher education institutes and research institutions in Chongqing City initiated 4 theme projects of 863 Program. Within which, the research on “3D Printings for Developing Key Technologies and Equipments” initiated by Chongqing University is hopefully to produce the largest mono-parts in the world.

“At present, the unilateral maximum size of parts produced by 3D Printings is 25 cm, and we are planning to surmount the technical difficulty of printing the parts with an unilateral maximum size of 75 cm.” introduced by the chief expert of “3D Printings for Developing Key Technologies and Equipments” theme project.

He also indicated that the R & D of this project allowed China to own the proprietary intellectual property right of the key technologies including forming technologies, equipments, softwares, etc, providing a whole set of solutions to promote 3D Printings in various fields of Industry. Based on the interview, ths project is estimated to be completed within 4 years. The initiation of these 4 them projects will in different degree promote the transformation and upgrading of local industry in Chongqing to the destination of high-end manufacturing.
