On February 27, EU released the Regulation No. 2016/278 approved by EU Commission, which finally decided that it was appropriate to repeal the anti-dumping duties imposed on the import of certain iron or steel fasteners originating in the People’s Republic of China, in view of the findings of WTO Dispute Settlement Body. Director of Department of Treaty and Law of Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China welcomes EU’s repeal of duties and considered EU’s action as the appropriate behavior to execute the finding of WTO.

It was indicated in the release that undergoing near 7 years of WTO litigation, China finally win the case, urging EU to repeal the anti-dumping duties against China’s certain iron or steel fasteners. However, the injury and lost bore by China Fastener Industry and other relative industries had already existed after EU’s imposing of anti-dumping duties on fasteners originating in China. China sincerely hopes that the normal trade of fasteners would recover and the bilateral economic trade relationship would develop in no time after the repeal of fastener anti-dumping duties.

The Director also lays emphasis on legal fundamentals that discriminatory investigation and anti-dumping measures lack of, which investigation and measures imposed by some trade entities on some Chinese products and Chinese enterprises would not win the approval of WTO. China will as always support the multilateral trade system of WTO and preserve the industrial interest by applying the international rules and dispute settlement system, devoting to the sustentions of equitable and fair international trade environment.
