On March 4, US Department of Commerce unveiled an announcement, which decided to initiate an anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation against the stainless steel sheet and strips originated in China. The cause of this investigation was based on the request from relevant companies such as AK Steel Corp,
As to this issue, Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China made a statement, claiming that over-capacity in Steel Industry is a general problem within the scope of the world, which needs the collaborative solutions instead of resorting to the trade protection measures. In the statement, it was indicated that in recent years, US Government had initiated frequently the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation against China’s high-end steel products e.g. galvanized sheets, cold-rolled sheets, stainless steel products, etc. China Government pays highly attention to over-capacity in Steel Industry and adopts a series of measures to help solve this problem. China Government will keep following-up the development of this case and will firmly protect the legitimate rights and interests of China’s enterprises with the use of WTO rules.
