Xinjiang Urumqi to Zhundong Railway to complete in July

It is reported that Xinjiang picked up construction of Urumqi-Zhundong Railway in the springtime. The construction is scheduled to draw down the curtain in July 2010.

 

Urumqi-Zhundong Railway, originating from Urumqi north station and running eastward until Jiangjunmiao station in Qitai county was built in three phases since April 2008. The 263.8 kilometers long line cost CNY 2.542 billion. 

 

In the initial period, the railway will be capable of railing 15 million tonnes per year of cargo. To date, the first phase and the 167.6 kilometers long section from Wubei to Wucaiwan for the second phase have completed as scheduled.

 

Urumqi-Zhundong Railway will be of great help to coal mining, coal power and coal chemical base in Zhundong. In addition, it will deliver a great amount of ore products to the industrial belt in local area.
