China fastener industry showed a growing trend in the first five months of 2011 though under the pressure of trade protectionism. According to Customs Statistics, the fasteners export for the first five months of 2011 in China greatly surpassed the same period of 2010. The export volume reached 1,011,350 tons with an increase of 25% while the export value reached USD $ 1.735 billion with the growth of 46.55% from January to May, 2011.

In addition, China import fasteners from January to May, 2011 reached 113,566 tons and USD $ 1.194 billion in total, seeing a slight increase of 6.31% and 11.81% respectively.
