Bossard Group again achieved strong growth in the third quarter, benefiting from the solid order books of its customers and broad-based growth initiatives. The Group’s sales grew by 16.9% to CHF 291.6 million (€294 million). All three of Bossard Group’s market regions posted double-digit growth rates in local currency. In addition to the positive economic environment, especially in America and Asia, the Group also benefited from its consistently high delivery capability and the further strengthening of its market position. In Europe, Bossard recorded growth of 7.9% to CHF 151.3 million (in local currency: +16.4%). Adjusted for acquisitions, growth in local currency was 8.4%. In spite of geopolitical tensions and the resulting challenges, demand remained consistently high. Among other things, newly won customer projects in the electromobility sector helped to sustain positive demand. In an environment marked by significantly rising costs, Bossard’s Smart Factory services drew even more attention from customers. Sales in America increased by 38% to CHF 82.1 million (in local currency: +31.1%). The positive business development was driven by the dynamic economic environment evident in all business units. Continued diversification of the customer base was especially notable in the electromobility sector, with healthy orders for passenger and commercial vehicles. In Asia, the Group recorded growth of 16.9% to CHF 58.2 million (in local currency: +18.8%). The numerous growth initiatives launched in recent years are starting to pay off and result in expanded customer relationships, especially in the focus industries of electromobility and robotics. Despite repeated lockdowns in China, Bossard maintained satisfactory growth thanks to consistently high delivery capabilities.

German automobile club calls on drivers to save fuel

By cfm| 2022-08-30 16:25:26

The General German Automobile Club (ADAC) on Wednesday called on its more than 21 million members to "behave more consciously and more fuel-efficiently." "The effect will be clearly visible," said ADAC president Christian Reinicke and traffic president Gerhard Hillebrand in an open letter, calling on drivers to avoid unnecessary journeys by car. Other ways to reduce fuel consumption include limiting the average driving speed, as well as anticipatory and consistent driving. These methods could help motorists in Germany to reduce fuel consumption by up to 20 percent, ADAC said. Those with access to public transport should use it wherever possible, the Club added. According to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), fuel prices at German gas stations in March rose more sharply than ever before - even higher than during the two oil crises and the financial market crisis. Prices of premium gasoline in Germany rose on average by 41.9 percent year-on-year, while the price of diesel skyrocketed by 62.6 percent

Purchase of Long Island-Based Distributor Enhances and Expands MSC’s OEM Fastener Business Melville, N.Y. & Davidson, N.C. (August 3, 2022) — MSC INDUSTRIAL SUPPLY CO. (NYSE: MSM), a premier distributor of Metalworking and Maintenance, Repair and Operations supplies to industrial customers throughout North America, today announced that it has acquired Tower Fasteners, a Holtsville, New York-based valued-added distributor of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) fasteners and components. Under the equity purchase agreement, Tower will continue to operate under its current name after becoming an MSC company. Mark Shannon, President of Tower, will continue to lead the business, which has approximately 100 associates. Tower’s revenue in calendar 2021 was approximately $35 million. MSC’s acquisition of Tower, made through its All Integrated Solutions (AIS) subsidiary, expands the company’s presence in the OEM fastener market, which it entered in 2018 with the acquisition of AIS, a leading value-added distributor of industrial fasteners and components, MRO supplies and assembly tools based in Wisconsin. Tower’s growing footprint complements AIS’s existing locations concentrated in the Midwest. The company operates eight distribution centers along the East Coast and in the Southwestern regions of the United States, Mexico and Europe. Tower serves manufacturers in the industrial, electronics, medical equipment, aerospace, military, and security, fire and safety sectors. MSC plans to maintain Tower’s operations, providing the company’s customer base access to MSC’s 2 million-plus product portfolio to support their full metalworking and MRO needs. Similarly, MSC will extend Tower’s production fastener solutions to its manufacturing customers. The acquisition is expected to be roughly neutral to MSC’s fiscal 2022 earnings and slightly accretive to fiscal 2023 earnings.  “We are excited to add Tower Fasteners to our growing portfolio of businesses, all focused on helping manufacturers solve their mission-critical challenges,” said MSC President and CEO Erik Gershwind. “Tower will expand our presence in the OEM fastener market and provide an entrée into new end markets like electronics and medical equipment. We look forward to supporting the growth and success of their customers together.” AIS President Nick Ruetz, added, “Tower’s geographic footprint on the East Coast and in the Southwest complements our strong presence in the Midwest. AIS and Tower have worked together on industry-related matters for many years. We’re looking forward to partnering to expand our reach in serving OEM customers and extending MSC’s full array of solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their operations.”  Mark Shannon, President of Tower Fasteners, said MSC, AIS and Tower have a shared passion for providing high-touch, custom solutions to manufacturers to support their MRO product and inventory management needs.  “MSC is a recognized and respected leader in the industrial supply distribution industry. We’re excited to join forces with MSC and AIS to bring even greater value to our customers,” Shannon said.

New fischer insulation fixing TermoZ CS II

By willl lowry| 2022-08-10 10:00:29

fischer’s new TermoZ CS II screw fixing anchors ETICS insulation panels made of any kind of material, including fire bars, into any conventional construction material to enable simple, time saving screw mounting with minimal thermal bridges. fischer points out that the latest addition to its range of ETICS fastenings is multitalented, as it is suitable for fastening insulating panels in any conventional material and thickness on all standard solid and hollow construction materials. The ETICS fixing therefore doesn't need to be replaced if the façade is equipped with various insulating materials, such as a fire bar, which saves additional time.  TermoZ CS II’s approval for every building material class (A, B, C, D, E) guarantees its secure application – making it suitable for subsequent insulation on renovated buildings if there is uncertainty about their anchor substrate. Further advantages include the fact that any improper use caused by unsuitable insulation fixings is prevented and users can make do with a single ETICS fixing even if the building has various substrates.  The screw fixing consists of a polypropylene anchor sleeve with a diameter of 8mm, as well as an insulation plate (various diameters) made of glass-fibre reinforced polyamide. The fixing is fastened by inserting the special compound screw made of zinc-plated steel and glass-fibre reinforced polyamide. While the screw is inserted, the anchor sleeve expands to provide a firm anchoring in the substrate. Because the screw is thermally isolated, thermal bridges are minimised so that there is no need for a sealing plug. “With the new TermoZ CS II screw fixing, we are offering system providers a universal insulation fixing that hardly, if at all, impairs the energy efficiency of ETICS and also enables efficient work and rapid construction progress,” states fischer.
