The Fastenal Co. of Winona, MN, (Nasdaq: FAST), reported October sales were $288.5 million, 16.9 percent higher than in October 2011.

Daily sales increased 6.8 percent from the prior year, to $12.5 million, and were 7.1 percent higher than in January.

October manufacturing customer daily sales grew 9.1 percent. Non-residential construction customers grew 0.9 percent.

The effect of Hurricane Sandy on daily sales growth in October was an estimated -1.5 percentage points.
