Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh says India and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations have concluded negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement in services and investments.
Singh said the FTA in services and investments represents a valuable milestone in India-ASEAN relationship. He expressed confidence that the 20-year-old partnership between India and ASEAN will elevate to a Strategic Partnership.
He said political dialogue between the two has grown, consultations in regional forums have intensified, and defense and counter-terrorism cooperation have expanded.
The prime minister said the FTA in goods has already helped trade between India and ASEAN grow by 41 percent in current fiscal year.
