Mercedes-Benz Recall 2013 GL-Class for Seatbelt Anchor Bolts

The German based automaker Mercedes-Benz has recently announced a recall for the 2013 GL-Class, because of a problem with the second-row seatbelt anchor bolts.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a total of 272 units of the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class will be affected by this recall across the United States, and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers in order to get the problem solved. The NHTSA says that the second-row seatbelt anchor bolts in some vehicles may have been improperly torque during the assembly, because of a problem with the electric screwdrivers.

In the event of a crash, the occupants may not be properly restrained, increasing the risk of injury. The recall affects the 2013 GL350 BlueTEC, the GL450 4MATIC, the GL550 4MATIC and the GL63 AMG models, which were assembled in Alabama, between the 15th of May, 2012, and the 4th of October, 2012. Owners and dealers will be notified by the carmaker and vehicles will be inspected and, if necessary, the second-row seatbelt anchor bolts will be replaced at no charge. The recall should begin this month (May, 2013). In the meantime, if you own one of the vehicles mentioned above, you can find out more about the recall at 1-800-367-6372 (Mercedes-Benz) or at 1-888-327-4236 (NHTSA).
