The Fastenal Co. of Winona, MN, reported sales for July of $282.3 million, an increase of 7.8 percent compared to the same period a year ago.

Daily sales averaged $12.8 million, an increase of 2.9 percent from July 2012.

During the month, sales to manufacturing customers grew 2.1 percent and non-residential construction customers contracted 0.1 percent.

Fastenal opened one new store in July, bringing the total store count to 2,678. Employee headcount increased 3.2 percent to 16,049.
