Winona, MN - Fastenal Company released the numbers for their August sales month, noting that net sales rose 2.5% year over year.

Net sales in August of 2013 were $297,675 (Dollar amounts in thousands), up from $290,447 in the same month of 2012. The daily sales were $13,531, up 7.2% from $12,628 in 2012.

Commentary on sales growth and end markets:

End market (daily sales change) - During the month, manufacturing customers grew 6.1% and non-residential construction customers grew 7.3%.

Sales growth - The change in currencies in foreign countries (primarily Canada) relative to the United States dollar reduced daily sales growth rate by 0.3% during the month.

Fastenal has opened 37 stores in 2013. The company now has 2,681 in operation.
