Latin America’s steel product imports from China surge by 17% in Jan-Nov

According to statistics released by the Latin American Steel Association (Alacero), Latin America’s imports of finished steel products from China increased by 17% year on year to 4.8 million tons in the January-November period of 2013.

Among them, 3 million tons were steel flat products and 1.1 million tons were steel long products.

In the given period of time, Brazil was the largest importer of the Chinese steel products in Latin America with 1.2 million tons, accounting for 26% of the region’s total imports. Chile was the second largest one with 733,224 tons.
