In August, the Industrial Production of Germany has signed a -4% on July against an estimation of -1,5%.
Such negative data is the worst monthly result since 2009 and, combined with July data that has been revised from +1,9 down to +1,6%, is pushing different analyst to start speaking about a possible recession. Owing that Q2/2014 has signed -0,2% a new negative quarter result during the 3rd period of the year, would technically bring Germany in recession.
What is particularly worrying is the performance of the automotive industry that has fallen by 25%, the worst result since 1984 (-52%).
A good part of such negative results is probably due to the recession affecting since long time Italy, Spain and France which are among the most important markets for the German car industry.
Other commentators are suggesting that a negative result of the German GDP during Q3 could finally lead to a change of the EU economic strategy, so far strongly kept to the respect of a rigorous policy, in direction of expansive policies such those applied in USA.
