On February, more than 26,000 Sniglar cribs in the United States and 6,000 in Canada were recalled by IKEA due to not long enough four bolts which secure the mattress support. A misfitting may cause the mattress support to detach and collapse and thus pose a risk of a child becoming entrapped or suffocating.
On March, SAIC recalled 181 MG TF sports cars due to the corrosion of rivet head of lower arm. The rivet would eventually fall off under extreme situation, causing the cars could not drive normally.
On April 1st, the opening of a nearly 5-foot-long hole occurred in the airline NO. 812 of the Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV) during the plane fight at 34,000 feet. There were 123 people on the plane, making an emergency landing in Yuma, Arizona. One flight attendant and one passenger were injured. The cause for the accident was the misaligned rivet holes where two parts of the fuselage were assembled.
On April, Chrysler recalled 464 wranglers due to the defective fasteners in automotive chassis. The fastening bolts connecting chassis and antero posterior axis might have defect during installation, which could reduce the turnable and controllable performance.
On July 25th, Honda Motor announced that it would recall about 200,000 cars in global due to defective engine parts. The involved models for recalling were Stream, Civic and Crossroa. The engine bolts might cause trouble with the motor cooling system in cold weather, which could eventually cause the engines to stop.
