3rd Mechanical Components & Meterials Technology Expo Nagoya (M-Tech Nagoya) officially opened today at Portmesse Nagoya, Japan. These fasteners are valued at 45.68 billion Yen, occupying 40.82% of total import fasteners value of Japan in 2017, up 12.21% versus 2016. The 5th Taiwan International Fastener Show (Fastener Taiwan) officially kicked off on Apr. 10. A total of 415 exhibitors with 1107 booths, covering an exhibition floor of almost 20,000 square meters, displayed all kinds of fasteners, machinery and tools. On March 15, 2018, the North Coast Fastener Association inducted two of its founding members into the NCFA Hall of Fame.  Don “Doc” O’Connor and Nick Viggiano were two of the original founders of the organization over 30 years ago and they spoke about how the organization was founded.  Nick is still working in the industry for Brighton Best.Additionally, at the same meeting several bricks from the National Fastener Hall of Fame walkway located for years in Columbus, Ohio were returned to family members of the Hall of Fame inductees.  Bricks were returned to family members of:Richard Kerr – Kerr Lakeside, Inc.David Tuttle – Spencer ProductsJames, John and Paul Zehnder – Earnest MachineBill Ziegler – Ziegler BoltAt the end of the ceremonies, Marty Nolan was presented a plaque on behalf of his father, Gil Nolan who was recognized by O’Connor and Viggiano as also having been instrumental in the early founding of the organization.Established in 1982, the North Coast Fastener Association  is a not-for-profit organization made up of volunteers to help inform and educate affiliates of the fastener industry. Many Turkish fastener suppliers purchased their machines from China to produce their product thus some Chinese machine suppliers came to the show.The exhibition attracted numerous professional distributors and end users, mainly from Turkey and the surrounding countries with clear procurement targets. Many Chinese companies were visiting the show to known more about the market. Most of the buyers claimed that the product price was a key factor to consider. If the price is not nice, they will not consider to purchase the product. What's more, Turkey levies tariffs on fasteners imported from other countries. Most of the Turkish local suppliers are producing carbon steel fasteners with low price, therefore Chinese carton steel fasteners do not have price advantages in Turkey together with high tariffs. However, due to high price of stainless steel in Turkey, Turkey's stainless steel fasteners mainly depend on imports, thus the market is worth developing.Based on the data of China customs, in 2017, China exported near 23.22 million kg fasteners to Turkey, valued at about 3.97 million US dollar, while China imported near 3.16 million kg fasteners from Turkey, valued at 17.39 million US dollar. The data reflects that the average price of fasteners China exported to Turkey is much lower than the average price of fastener Turkey exported to China. Therefore, it's difficult for Chinese fastener companies to develop Turkey market by means of low price. Chinese companies should improve the addded value of their products and focus on high-end fasteners.

On Feb. 23, 2018, The 15th Yongnian Fastener Manaufaturers' Gathering and Product Exhibition was held successfully in Yongnian County, China. Some leaders of Handan City were invited to attend the event. The event attracted near 20000 visitors with 20 special decorated booths and more than 300 standard booths.
