The 1st Fastener Fair Thailand, organized by Mack Brooks Exhibitions Ltd, was grandly staged on Sep. 6th, 2012 at Bangkok International Trade Expo Centre (BITEC), Bangkok, Thailand. The fair would last for three days, opening from 10:00 to 18:00. The months of June to September are the rain season in Thailand; even the weather was worse in the opening day, the fair still proceeded smoothly. 

The Fastener Fair Thailand exhibited a wide range of products and services for the fastener and fixing industry, including industrial fasteners and fixings; construction fixings; assembly and installation systems; fastener manufacturing technology; storage, distribution and factory equipment, information, communication and services.

Fastener Fair Thailand attracted 125 exhibitions in total. There were about 35 Chinese fastener companies exhibiting in the fair, including Haiyan Chnstar, Shanghai Jingyang, Shanghai Fast-fix, Eagle Metalware, Chun Yu (Dongguan) Metal, Hanghzou Xiaoshan Gaofeng Nail, Changzhou Junhe, Brotherunited, Ningbo Jinding, Ningbo Xinxing, Ningbo Yonghong, Ningbo Zhonglian, Linhai Standard Parts etc. Besides, there were about 50 Taiwanese fastener exhibitors like SRC, National Machinery, Chun Yu Machinery and so on.

Thailand’s economy is prosperous. Its automotive sector grew by 64% in 2010 and it is forecasted to be top ten producers of cars by 2015. Thailand has eliminated tariffs on more than 140 types of auto parts imported from Japan since April 2011. The policy like that stimulates Japanese investors to invest directly in Thailand for production of car parts. Bangkok plans to develop an urban traffic network. There will be $50 billion invested in high speed rail network between Thailand and China while there will be $130 million invested in the transnational rail link between Greater Mekong countries. In addition, Bankok plans to build Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport to the centre of aviation for Southeast Asia region. The above projects surely will create a huge demand on the fasteners especially the auto parts, railway fasteners and aerospace fasteners. It is because of the huge demand on fasteners that attracts Chinese fastener companies to attend in the fair. 

The visitors were mainly from Thailand and the surrounding countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Philippine. There were also some visitors from Brazil, Italy, Russia, Egypt and Turkey. They came to the fair in the role of large-scale traders, wholesalers, and distributors. According to the interviews with some purchasers, being affected by the anti-dumping measures implemented by EU, they would temporarily cease purchasing fasteners from China and choose the emerging Southeast Asian countries like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam to import fasteners, which is one of the most important reasons for purchasers come to visit the fair. 

ChinaFastener Magazine (CFM), being the famous media in fastener industry, attended Fastener Fair Thailand as well. It newly published 12th issue magazine was firstly distributed in Thailand.
