Manufacturing World Japan 2013, one of the world’s largest manufacturing exhibitions, will be held from June 19(Wed)–21(Fri), 2013 at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan (organised by Reed Exhibitions Japan Ltd.). Manufacturing World Japan 2013 is the collective name for 4 different shows: 17th Mechanical Components & Materials Technology Expo (M-Tech), 4th Medical Device Development & Manufacturing Expo (MEDIX), 24th Design Engineering & Manufacturing Solutions Expo (DMS), and 21st 3D & Virtual Reality Expo (IVR).

As a precious opportunity where a wide range of manufacturing technologies and also virtual reality products are gathering, the show increasingly attracts end-users as well as professionals year by year: in 2013, 2,000 exhibitors and 77,000 visitors are expected to come from Asia and all over the world.

Responding to the growing demand from the industry and reflecting the trend, M-Tech and DMS will have new fairs and zones, which will become a strong draw of this year.

Manufacturing World Japan 2012 (June 2012)  The show floor was filled with 75,015 visitors.

17th Mechanical Components & Materials Technology Expo (M-Tech) is Japan's largest exhibition gathering all kinds of mechanical parts such as bearings, fasteners, mechanical springs and metal, and plastic processing technology. M-Tech attracts professionals from design, development, manufacturing, production engineering, procurement and quality control departments.

M-Tech will launch 2 new fairs to meet growing demand from the industry.
<NEW> Difficult-to-Cut Materials Fabrication Fair, focusing on technologies to process materials of high hardness and brittleness, such as stainless, magnesium and inconel.

<NEW> Joining/Welding/Cutting Fair, focusing on those-related technologies and machines, such as blazing, adhesive, cutting machine, laser beam machine and welding/cutting software.
The other existing fairs:
Motion Technology Fair
Motor Fair
Fluid Power Transmission Fair
Mechanical Parts & Related Products Fair
Surface Treatment & Modification Fair
Deburring & Surface Finishing Fair
Materials & Fabrication Technology Fair
Testing/Measuring/Sensor Fair
Fasteners & Fastening Technology Fair
Mechanical Springs Fair
Parts Feeder/Parts Inspection Fair
Ultraprecision Processing/Microfabrication Fair
Large/Thick Parts Machining Fair
Industrial Cleaning Fair
Tools Fair
Investment Promotion Fair

In M-Tech, most booths have technical experts who introduce their latest products to visitors who go around weighing the features of various exhibitors. These technical negotiations often lead to orders for customized products to meet unique demands from professionals. M-Tech makes a best meeting spot between skilled manufacturers and motivated visitors.

4th Medical Device Development & Manufacturing Expo (MEDIX) showcases the latest technologies required to design and manufacture medical devices, such as metal/plastic processing technology, manufacturing equipment, equipment components, factory automation technology, measuring technology, image technology, packaging technology and various IT solutions. MEDIX attracts medical device manufacturers: syringes, thermometers, artificial organs, catheters, MRI systems and patient monitors.

The world’s second-largest Japanese drug & medical device market continues growing. Japanese rapidly-aging society has led to rising demand from patients, medical practitioners and companies for faster access to and supply of better drugs and devices for years. In 2007, the health ministry launched the accelerated screening system for new product approvals, which is now encouraging foreign companies to place high priority on Japan’s medical device market; in fiscal 2011, imports accounted for 45% of the market, valued at $28.2 billion (JPY2.4 trillion) and this ratio could continue to rise.
