On August 21, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of People’s Republic of China announced that the Anti-monopoly Guide for Auto Industry would concern about the issues in the emerging areas, such as e-commerce and parallel imports of vehicles, besides giving policy guidance to the anti-monopoly of auto sessions including the parts manufacturing and supply, auto sales and after-service.
It was disclosed that on August 7, the Bureau of Price Supervision and Anti-monopoly of NDRC held the Specilists Conference for the Draft of Anti-monopoly Guide for Auto Industry, inviting over 50 representatives from the vehicle manufacturers, auto dealers, auto parts suppliers, and auto industry association members, etc.
Specialists attending the conference pointed out that at present, the e-commerce platforms on Mainland China weren’t able to realize the direct transation of finished cars, which were still undertaken by the wholesalers. That in a large degree meant that the manufacturers can influence the price of vehicles. Another issue being discussed was to untie the policy restriction on the parallel import of vehicles, which would later be the focus of anti-monopoly.
