According to the statistic of Korea Iron & Steel Association, the export volume of South Korean deformed steel bars in June was 98,123 tons with a sharp jump of 386% as compared with the export volume of 25,398 tons in May. That the demand for deformed steel bars was in slowdown in domestic and hence caused price falling made the manufacturers of deformed steel bars to expand their export volume, which contributed to the sharp jump.
The average export price of South Korean deformed steel bars in June was $ 685 USD per ton at FOB, seeing a slight decrease of $ 6 USD as compared with that price of May. Southeast Asia was its major export market, of which 62,000 tons exported to Singapore and 27,000 tons exported to China. The export volume of deformed steel bars from January to June was 298,258 tons in total, up 17% as compared with the same period of last year. The average price for export was $ 672 USD per ton, $ 90 USD ahead of same period of 2010.
