On June 13th, 2016, CAAM (China Association of Automobile Manufacturers) holds a news conference of China Auto Industry economic operation of May in Beijing. At the conference,  ACI(Auto Climate Index) of China is released for the first time.

The conference is hosted by Xu Haidong, who is the assistant of Secretary-General from CAAM. Chen Shihua, the assistant of Secretary-General and Director of Ministry of Industry Information, firstly releases statistics data of auto industry economic operation of May and of the first five months this year.

Based on the data from CAAM, in May of 2016, the production of automobiles is about 2 million, 5.08% decreased comparing with April, 5.01% increased comparing with the same period of last year. And the sales volume is about 2.1 million, 1.66% decreased comparing with April, 9.75% increased comparing with the same period of last year.

From January to May of 2016, the auto production volume is about 10.8 million and the sales volume is about 10.7 million, 5.75% and 6.96% increased relatively comparing with the same period of last year, of which the growing rate increases 2.57% and 4.85% relatively comparing with the same period of last year. The production and sales volume of passenger vehicles is about 9.32 million and 9.28 million relatively, 6.59% and 7.75% increased relatively comparing with the same period of last year. The production and sales volume of commercial vehicles is about 15.1 million and 1.49 million relatively, 0.89% and 2.32% increased comparing with the same period of last year.

The most impressive thing at the conference is the first releasing of ACI of China. Ye Shengji, who is the Vice Secretary-General of CAAM, makes an introduction that CAAM has built the Auto Climate Index of China(ACI) over one year’s effort, with the guidance and support of The Ministry of Industry and Information, The National Statistics Bureau and CMIF(China Machinery Industry Federation). Based on ACI, CAAM makes the Quarter ACI of China of 2016.

"Establishing the publish mechanism of ACI makes practical sense and it is also a new platform of CAAM to serve for the industry enterprises, governments and society", says Ye. At present, the publish mechanism of ACI is still in the stage of exploring and CAAM will make better improvements while accumulating experiences.
