According to the report on 8th this month of Reuters, Mario Longhi, CEO of United States Steel declared through CNBC that 10,000 jobs may be reoffered to USA workers, but he did not said when the jobs would come back.
"I’m so glad to reoffer jobs which were cut in trouble time to workers." Longhi said.
US president-elect Donald Trump emphasized during the president election that he hoped to renegotiate the trade agreement and helped more Americans get jobs. What’s more, he wanted to get manufacture industry back to US including “steel manufacture”.
The company laid off employees and left its factory in US unused to control the costs due to the rapid decreasing of steel price caused by the oversupply of steel around the world.
Up to December 31st, the company has employed 21,000 staffs in North America, less than the number in 2007 which was 28,000.
The speaker of the company said to Reuters, “Whether we would reoffer jobs and how many jobs we would provide will based on the market.”
During the CNBC interview, Longhi said, the company hoped to accelerate their investment in USA because the better supervision and tax law will significantly elevate its growth.
The share price of the company ended up 4.3% at US$ 37.49 which has increased 79% since Mr. Trump won in the president election.
