China Commerce and Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Mechanical and Electronic Products received the information from its office in EU, noting that the European Commission has formally noted our side, according to the application, the investigation of anti-dumpling against Chinese iron or steel fasteners is on the way. On this circumstance, China Commerce and Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Mechanical and Electronic Products called for an emergent meeting on this issue to figure out the action. About 200 leaders from Fair Trade Bureau of China National Business Department, CMCA, Fastener Professional Association, China Commerce and Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Mechanical and Electronic Products and related provincial and municipal Foreign Economic and Trade Committee, as well as representatives of some main export enterprises have attended the meeting.
The list of products in EU anti-dumpling action covers a wide range, including all iron or steel fasteners, only a small number of products are excluded such as a few stainless steel fasteners. It is said that the scope of the products included maintains relatively wide after latter adjustment. The period of investigation is expected to start from October 1, 2006 to September 30, 2007. According to the export statistics from customhouse, from September, 2006 to August, 2007, the export volume of Chinese steel fasteners to EU reaches 730 million US dollars which is a large number, so Fair Trade Bureau put emphasis on the steel fasteners.
The meeting strictly focuses on how to handle the current situation of Chinese fasteners export. The most importance is to unify our opinions and arrange overall actions against the anti-dumpling positively. We should fight against the unfair performance of a few countries against China hand in hand. We have to win this battle which is vital to the friendship between China and Europe.
Delegates attending the meeting said that they could not understand the unreasonable action of EU against some enterprises in a few countries. They also expressed concern about the China-EU business in the future. So they called on all friendly people to work together and seek the mutually beneficial Fastener business. Currently, we are closely following the development of events. At the same time, we should prepare well for this anti-dumping action positively.
